Wellness Society
Secure and safe Society

We provide software testing, quality improvement support, and cybersecurity-related services. Yet it is also our policy to make our accumulated knowledge public in order to promote higher levels of knowledge and learning in society as a whole. In so doing, we aim to help bring about “a safe and secure ICT society” as stated in our corporate mission.

Increasing safety and security through our business and services

We aim to build a safe and secure ICT society through software quality testing

In a society rapidly moving toward DX and IoT, software is increasingly playing an important role in nearly everything. This heavy reliance also means that any failure by software to perform its intended function can put large sectors of our world at risk of safety and security breaches. However, through rigorous software testing and quality improvement support services, our group is working hard to ensure that software performs at its highest quality levels across various industries including finance, distribution, and infrastructure, thereby supporting the safety and security of society and people’s lives.

Services to combat cyber risks

The spread of the Internet to every corner of society brings with it threats such as site manipulation and information leaks causing serious risk to the survival of companies and to the safety and security of society as a whole. The VALTES Group is dedicated to providing a host of services aimed to counter such risks by helping companies and institutions strengthen their cyber security.

Primary Services
Web Security Diagnostics Security risk detection addressing robustness issues like “Can this site withstand tampering?”
Mobile App Security Diagnostics Mobile app (iOS/Android) security risk detection
IoT Security Diagnostics Detection of IoT device-related risk, such as “unauthorized opening of electronic locks”, “eavesdropping and snooping by networked cameras“
Platform daignostics Detection of internal security risks in the servers, OS, middleware, etc. that make up the network
Cloud Diagnostics Detection of security risks on cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure
Penetration Testing Security experts penetrate systems from the same perspective as an attacker and conduct risk assessments
WAF (Web App Firewall) Services Construction of firewalls to protect web servers and web applications from external attacks.

Contributing to safety and security by collaborating with society

We seek to bolster society’s knowledge and skills by disclosing our know-how.

QUINTEE is a systematization of knowledge that the VALTES Group has accumulated by experience working at various project sites. In 2022, we will release the QUINTEE outline to the public, making it widely available for use at development sites, in an effort to contribute to improvements in quality standards throughout the industry.
In addition, we have published a portal site for software quality improvement called, “Qbook,” providing a wealth of articles and educational materials on software quality and testing, with the goal of empowering society with more knowledge and skills in the field of software quality.

Collaboration with Osaka University Graduate School in tool development

The VALTES Group group is actively involved in industry-academia collaboration, with the jointly-achieved results becoming actual tools. For example, in 2012, we developed the combined test case generation tool, “Qumias” as a result of joint research with Professor Tatsuhiro Tsuchiya of Osaka University’s Graduate School, and released it for free on Qbook (now updated as Qumias Plus). Through this joint research, Professor Tsuchiya was able to develop CIT-BACH, a combinatorial test case generation engine with a powerful computational algorithm that greatly ameliorates conventional problems. We at VALTES conducted tests on CIT-BACH and verified that the engine is practicable, and then designed an easy-to-use GUI implemented through an add-on running in familiar software such as Excel.

Collaboration with Kyoto Institute of Technology Begets New Test Automation Tool Functions

In 2023, we worked with Professor Osamu Mizuno of Kyoto Institute of Technology to develop an image recognition function for our test automation tool, T-DASH. In the past, T-DASH retrieved element paths* from the HTML source. But for elements such as image buttons and menus that did not include a search string, it took extra processing time and effort to identify their HTML source paths. With the newly implemented image recognition function, however, this process is no longer necessary, leading to more efficient test automation.

  • * A string of characters used to identify an element using HTML tags and attributes.
